We want to use the Notebook built-in wireless NIC to connect to another Wireless Access
Point and also use our PCMCIA Adapter at the same time.
What we did
- Look for best TELSAT signal.
- Position notebook on the roof to act as an antenna and access point. Mount it on a high platform with clear line of sight.
- Use an Access Point with dead wireless function to act as a switch.
- Run a cat5 cable to a workstation in the house.
- Configure notebook network adapters. This is important.
How to configure?
1. In Control Panel, double-click Network Connections.
2. Right-click a network interfaces, and then click Properties.
3. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
4. On the General tab, click Advanced.
5. To specify the Metrics, on the IP Settings tab click to clear the Automatic metric check box, and then enter the Metric that you want in the Interface Metric field.
